“On Sep, 6th Microsoft launched its Indian language “Speech Corpus” to help researchers and academia. This free data from Microsoft offers three Indian languages for advanced research in the various fields.”
Recently, Microsoft launched its updated ‘Speech Corpus,’ which contains three languages: Telugu, Tamil, and Gujarati, available for use by researchers and academia.
However, it can be used to innovate new Indian language speech recognition applications. Therefore, this is one of the largest publicly available speech datasets which includes audio and transcript says Microsoft.“Microsoft Indian Language Speech Corpus is an extension of our ongoing efforts to reduce language barriers and empower Indians to harness the full potential of the Internet,” said Sundar Srinivasan, General Manager, Artificial Intelligence and Research, Microsoft India.
“We can employ this free data collection to conduct extensive research in various areas such as natural language processing, computer vision, and domain-specific sciences,” says Srinivasan, expressing our desire to accelerate innovation in voice-based computing for India by supporting researchers and academia. Microsoft tested its “Speech Corpus” at the Interspeech 2018 conference, and the results amazed everyone. Additionally, associates in the Low Resource Speech Recognition Challenge used the “Speech Corpus” to build fully functional Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) systems.
