Step 1: Check Your Own Domain

  1. Login to the G Suite admin console as an administrator.

Step 4: Connect Office 365 to Gmail

The migration endpoint is a technical term that defines the parameters required to build the connection needed to migrate the mailboxes. To construct the migration endpoint in the Classic Exchange admin center, do the following.

  1. Go to the Classic Exchange admin center and choose the Admin tile.
  2. In the EAC, go to Recipients then select Migration > More > Migration Endpoints.
  3. To create a new migration endpoint, click New+.
  4. In the next panel, select IMAP.
  5. On the IMAP migration configuration page, select IMAP server to imap.gmail.com, and keep the setting at default mode.
  6. Click Next, The migration service makes use of the settings to check the connection to the Gmail system. If the connection works successfully, the Enter general information page opens.
  7. On the Enter general information page, fill in the details of the MIgration endpoint name.
  8. Leave the next two columns blank to use the default values.
  9. Click New, to create the migration endpoint.

Step 5: Migrate Gmail to Office 365 in Classic Exchange Admin Center by Creating Migration Batch

To migrate Gmail to Office 365 in bulk simultaneously, use the migration batch. The batch comprises the Gmail mailboxes you listed in the migration file in the previous step 4: Connect Office 365 to Gmail.

  1. In the Microsoft 365 admin center, go to Admin centers then select Exchange.Migrate Gmail to Office 365
  2. Next, in the Exchange admin center, go to Recipients > Migration.
  3. Click New, then click to Migrate to Exchange Online.
  4. Select IMAP migration, then Next.
  5. On the Select the Users Page, click Browse and select the previously produced CSV file for migration. Click Next.
  6. Following authentication, Office 365 shows the Gmail mailboxes to migrate. Then, click the Next button.
  7. On the Set the migration endpoint page, choose the migration endpoint that you have created in the previous step and click Next.
  8. Continue with the default values in the IMAP migration configuration page, and then click Next.
  9. On the Move configuration page, type the name of the migration batch (no spaces or special characters), for example, Test2-migration. Provide the names of the folders to be excluded. To include them in the excluded list, click the Add (+) icon.
  10. Provide the needed choices on the Start the batch page to begin the process to migrate Gmail to Office 365.

Step 6: Update DNS Records For Migrating Directly to Microsoft 365

Email systems utilize a DNS record called an MX record to determine where to distribute email. Your MX record was referring to your Gmail system during the entire email transfer procedure. After you’ve finished the task to migrate Gmail to Office 365, it’s time to point your MX record to Microsoft 365.
